Going home is bittersweet…

As most of you know, I am originally from Tallahassee, FL. We moved to Athens in 2003. I used to go home ALL the time. Well, as time has gone on and children have multiplied, making it back home doesn’t happen as often. Well, at least not those “just because” trips. But this weekend….this weekend was SPECIAL. It was my nephews 6th birthday party, and, again, any of you who know me know I love a party!!!

That wasn’t the only celebration we had this weekend though. I also got to see the newest addition to our family. Little Dylan! He is the first son of my cousin Eugene. Oh MY what a sweet little baby he is, and he looks JUST like his dad.

 

We also had two teeth fall out this weekend. Aiden lost his first top front tooth and Lexi lost one of her molars. I hate to be THAT mom who doesn’t show photos of each kid, but really….I am not subjecting all of y’all to the back of my 11 year old’s mouth. Just the thought is a little…..well…..gross.

With all the great stuff that happened this weekend it made me miss my people even more. Those little everyday things that get taken for granted….like losing teeth, new babies, and birthdays…..when shared with family, become the great big deal that they should be. I love you guys, and will be back as soon as I can!

You say it’s your birthday!?

What a BIRTHDAY it was!!

Happy Birthday Massey!!!

Massey celebrated her Sweet 16 in elegant style. The party was perfect, the birthday girl gorgeous, and the guests fabulous! It was such a great time for me too. Not to see all the high schoolers dancin’ it up on the dance floor, but to see an entire family coming together to celebrate such a special day.

There was no doubt that Massey’s brothers are just as proud of her as her parents are. As a mom, that was so refreshing to see.

Can’t wait until our one on one session Massey, it’ll be great!!!

Oh but it is right around the corner….

Christmas that is!

With 5 kids, we always have to plan well in advance for Christmas. That is also something that has to be planned for in the photography business too! The Holiday Season is filled with so much to do that we sometimes put cards on the back burner.

As many of my clients already know, my Christmas schedule books up fast and my holiday “vacation” starts early. This year I will not be taking any holiday clients after November 16! All holiday orders must be in by November 30.

What makes me a holiday client?

A holiday client is anyone who wants prints or cards to arrive in time for Christmas or before December 31.

Why the early deadline?

Well, this is for a few reasons. The main one being; I cannot guarantee any order arriving before December 25 if it is placed after November 30. Our labs already handle high volumes just because they are used by professionals around the world. But then factor in the millions of cards they are having to print on a time crunch!? Yeah, so there are bound to be hold ups and delays.

Another reason for this is because, as most of you know…..we have five kids. Yup, that’s right, a whole basketball team full. December is chaotic for me not only as a photographer, but as a mom too!

And last…….I will be photographing a wedding on December 15 in good ol’ Texas! So, I won’t even be here

So why? Why is Frankie telling us this???

I would like to introduce you all to a special little miracle that is in our lives now. As some of you may recall, my second blog here was one of pure sadness. One that hurt my heart, my soul, my being to write.

Well…while that sadness still weighs very heavy in my heart, a little of it has been replaced with nothing more than elation. Congratulations Jacki on this new title you have….MOTHER! And, it is without the slightest hint of doubt that I know, just like all other areas of your life, you will excel. You will be everything that Landon needs you to be, you will be more than he expects you to be. You will surprise yourself at just what it is that motherhood brings to your life. Everyday is a new day, a new day of hope, happiness, and pride. And you will learn things about yourself that you never knew. Even with all you have experienced in life, you will suddenly realize that you are full of emotions you didn’t know existed. There is nothing better (or sometimes worse) than those emotions. Nothing better than waking up each day to life as a mother.

Aerin and Danny Fans!!

I have had a few emails about being able to view the photos of Aerin and Danny’s! Wow, ya’ll are fast! While I haven’t even sat down to work on them beyond your sneak peek, you can view the ones that have already been put on the collage.

Oh my GOD! I am MARRIED!!!

As if the more she shouted it the more realistic it would become! Aerin and Danny’s wedding was as fun and original as they are. My personal favorite detail of the day would be the “Reverend Wiley’s” leather Chuck Taylors. I have GOT to get me some of THOSE. So yeah, it was a little hot…..ok REALLLLLLLY HOT…..but man, what a great time. The joy on each of the guests faces was obvious as they watched these two exchange some of the most sincere vows I have heard. You would think that after photographing so many weddings the “emotion” of it would wear off. But nope, it still gets me everytime to look at the bride and groom through the lens and see them tear up at the heartflet words their new spouse is whispering to them. And then, to have the personal touches of the poems read by their friends and family, followed by the family vows they each took as it was not only Danny welcoming Aerin into his life, it was also Shila, his beautiful, witty and “romantic” daughter gaining another parent.

I cannot thank you enough for honoring me with the task of documenting your day.

I wish I could join you tonight for the rehearsal dinner. You are both amazing people and a fabulous couple! I am however totally excited for Sunday. Thank you both so much for giving me a little more creative freedom. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Smith!!!
