Ok, not so much Christmas…but at least winter! Oh man, these two had a blast at the mini session tonight. Snowball fights, wrestling matches, you name it. They are ALL boy and ALL love too. I could keep my camera on these two for hours. Do you know how hard it was to wrap this up in 30 minutes!? I promise…HARD.

A little Turkey Day photo fun! I meet folks all the time that remind me of my family. Most of the time they remind me of the family I have here, the ones that reside in my home. But this family….they reminded me of my FAMILY, my core family! The family I owe all of my great experiences to. The ones I tormented, argued with, and fought with. But, the same family that I would be lost with out. The ones I always turn to to share my joys, concerns, and fears with. It really was like looking back in time. Seeing them was like seeing my parents with us. All so different yet very much the same. Each of us allowed to be who we were, not who they wanted us to be. These parents did just that…..accepted each of their children for who they were….even if the differences were great, they were still just as proud of each of them. You honestly could not meet a nicer bunch of folks. Thanks so much for making my time with you all enjoyable. It is so nice to be able to laugh at work!

2….2 and under

A little fall fun!
So yes, we have had non-stop talk about Christmas. But the colors outside are still screaming fall! And I got to spend yesterday morning with one of my most favorite families! This family has a regularly scheduled appointment every year around this time. I love being able to see just how much the girls have grown over the past 12 months. They are a fun, care-free, family who knows how to have a good time. This year we spent the morning just hanging out in their backyard…..and it made me wish it were MY backyard!!!
And man…..what happened to them STINKS!
I ran the Free Session special a few weeks back and got TONS of calls. I was booked up within 24 hours. Couldn’t be more excited. But…the best part….was booking this family. When Lisa called and we got to talking I couldn’t be more happy with my choice in opening up the studio for free to a few clients. She was telling me how much she now treasured photos. How, you always take your portraits, or even snap shots for granted because you just assume they will always be there. Well, for their family, they are not. A house fire robbed them of their many memories. The only thing left salvagable in the house was a photograph (or maybe drawing) of their youngest son. Can you imagine? A home with no visual memories, only those you hold in your heart? Honestly….it makes me sick to my stomach. It wasn’t until talking to Lisa that I began to value my own “snapshots” so much more. Her story, her pain….made me more appreciative. Made me a better photo taker of my kids. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the daily grind, and kind of like “the cobbler’s kids don’t have shoes”, the Wylie kids don’t have photos. At least no photos just for memories. Not a lot anyhow. No random daily snaps because they built an awesome tower. No embaressing blackmail photos for their first dates. Lisa and her story made me truly value the little things. And, while I am more than happy to give her this gift of fine portraiture, I will be forever grateful to her….because she gave me the gift of viewing my children through the lens as a mom….a mom who wants her kids to have memories….not a photographer….constantly searching for that perfect shot and being frustrated because the lighting isn’t just right. sometimes……you just know.
And they KNOW.
And I KNOW.
NO DOUBT these two right here are totally in love. Completely smitten with each other, not afraid to be true to what their hearts tell them….purely, absolutely in love. I could see it in their faces, the way they touched and held hands. Not to mention the way they picked on each other. Ya know, that right there is sign #1….how well does he (she) handle the sarcasm, puns, and playful digs you throw around. And, they can both not only handle them….but give them too! 
I can’t wait until February to hang out with Jennifer and David again. They have chosen a beautiful place and have all the plans moving right along. I am just grateful to be a part of it! Thanks guys for choosing ME

Happy birthday emily!
Must be fun to be 8. I remember a bit about those days. Not a lot. Just a bit. But, photographing Emily’s party brought back even more memories. What a great age 8 is. You like boys, but not really because they are still gross and yucky. You know how to have a good time, and it doesn’t involve anything illegal. And, your friends are still just excited about giving you your presents as you are to receive them!
